OPERA + COMMUNITY STUDIOS

The Opera and Community Studios is a two-story 14,640 Sq. Ft space that supports artists on all levels. Created as the result of a unique partnership between Boston Lyric Opera and Midway Artist Collective, the space boasts exposed beams, a unique two-floor layout with mezzanine, fully built-out systems,multiple dedicated entrances, loading dock access, and elevator access. The space is home to Boston Lyric Opera’s rehearsal and production operations, and hosts residencies for cultural organizations throughout Boston. 

By establishing a new production and performance space at Midway Artist Studios, we together with Boston Lyric Opera aim to contribute to the vitality of the performing arts scene and to contribute to strengthening performing arts organizations throughout the City of Boston.

The space is one of the best in Boston. It has a unique character and its location in the heart of the Fort Point Arts Neighborhood opens opportunities for collaboration across disciplines. 

The space accommodates a full range of artistic and creative activities, including music and staging rehearsals, public programs, education and community events, and producing operations: performance, the development of visual and sound experiences, opera and orchestral music, gathering, gallery, lectures, events, exhibitions, multimedia art, video projection, filmmaking, cinema and screenings, neighborhood meetings and other convenings. 

The space brings together organizations and community partnerships throughout the City, supporting collaboration and coalitions across artists, arts organizations, and performing arts companies.

The Opera & Community Studios accommodate a full range of artistic and creative activities. The Studios welcome artists and cultural organizations from Midway, Fort Point and across Greater Boston, fostering a collaborative environment and hosting convenings that strengthen the performing arts community. BLO will continue to present its mainstage shows at venues throughout the city. 

The space is a blend of modern and turn of the century industrial interior beauty unrivaled in the Boston area.
